First Things First
The obligatory intro post
In 2021, I finally decided to create a place for all the thoughts that run through my head on a daily basis, and the Words Are Weapons blog born. Shortly afterward, I created the accompanying Facebook page, which has taken off and grown far more than I expected.
The overall aim of this project is to explore and celebrate the power of the written word while I share my experience of navigating through the world being Black, female, queer, and neurodivergent, (i.e. The Other).
I also have a lot of opinions, and I give them on everything from current events to sociopolitical issues. Sometimes I’m funny, sometimes I’m serious, but I’m always real.
You can also find Words Are Weapons on Ko-fi.
The other section to this publication, The Crossroads Collective is another passion project. I started the Facebook page in January of this year with the purpose of building a community of fellow horror enthusiasts, specifically Black female horror enthusiasts like myself. Though I explore all aspects of the macabre, the focus is on horror noire, dark history, and the many manifestations of the Southern Gothic aesthetic. The idea is to connect the paranormal and supernatural to the real-life horrors of the American South, because the real monsters are often other people.
As with Words Are Weapons, you find The Crossroads Collective on Ko-fi.
